suddenly i have found myself rereading The Princess Bride by William Goldman for the hundred-millionth time. and i'm hardly exaggerating at all with that number, i swear to god...it's more of an excercise in nostalgia than anything else at this point, as i know it pretty well by heart. if you are one of the few who haven't seen the movie, which is great don't get me wrong, go out and buy the book. you'll laugh you'll cry you'll love the freshness of William Goldman's writing. he also wrote Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, possibly my favorite film of all time after Wings of Desire. the guy hasn't quite been batting a thousand for his entire career, but you know what? who cares! the guy had genius for those two pieces and frankly, that's more than the rest of us can say.
